How to use iDIN for signing

iDIN is a Dutch eID scheme controlled by the Dutch Payment Association. It is a collaboration between all major Dutch banks to facilitate electronic identity services, leveraging on familiar secure authentication processes of the online banking environments.

iDIN is a service that allows consumers to use their bank’s secure and reliable login methods to carry out the following actions on the websites of other organisations:

  • log in to other websites, for example from your insurer or government agency;
  • put your digital signature;
  • confirm your age and identity.

Note: This e-signing method only supports authentication-based signatures (AdES) and can solely be used with PDF format files.

How to use iDIN tool for signing?

If you are registered on Dokobit portal:

1. Open the signing invitation in your email and click "Review and sign".

2. Log in to your Dokobit account using One-Time Password.

3. Once you are logged in, you will see a shared document. Navigate to Step 4. (“Actions”), locate the option “Sign with iDIN” and then click on “Sign document".

4. You will be redirected to a new window. From the drop-down selection, you can choose the bank you are using and click “Continue”.

5. You will be redirected to your bank's home screen, where you will be able to identify. Below you will see an example of ASN Bank verification process:

6. After successful identification, your document will be signed.


If you have been invited to sign a document without creating an account:

7. You will be redirected to the document signing window. On the right, select your country, and from the drop-down selection, choose to sign using iDIN and click "Continue".

8. You will be redirected to a new window. From the drop-down selection, you can choose the bank you are using and click “Continue”

9. You will be redirected to your bank's home screen, where you will be able to identify. Below you will see an example of ASN Bank verification process:

10. After successful identification, your document will be signed.
