Deadlines

The deadline feature helps you to gather all signatures for a certain date. It is useful when you need the document to be signed for the exact date and not later. In the Dokobit portal, you can use the deadline feature both ways - as a gentle reminder for participants that there is a document waiting for them to sign or as a blocker to avoid signing after the set date.

Adding a deadline as a soft reminder

1. If you want the portal to send out a reminder to participants who have yet not signed the document 24 hours before the set deadline but you want to allow signing after the deadline, set up the deadline in document settings (section 4. Set document options). Just pick the date and time and do not check the box "Do not allow signing after deadline". This way document's participants who are not yet signed will get a reminder 24 hours before the deadline arrives that there is a document waiting for them to sign.

Note: Participants will be able to sign the document after the set deadline.

Adding deadline in order to not allow signing after the deadline

2. If you do not want participants to be able to sign the document after the set deadline, choose relevant document settings (section 4. Set document options) and check the box "Do not allow signing after deadline". Document's participants who are not yet signed will get reminder 24 hours before the deadline arrives, that there is a document waiting for them to sign and will not be able to sign the document after the due date.

Note: the document owner can change the deadline date even after its due date. This action can be done by logging into the portal, opening the document with a missed deadline, and selecting the new deadline to sign the document. In this case, all participants will receive an email informing about the changed signing deadline for this document.
